Description:

I would highly reccomend these to anyone considering upgrading to a BBK. These are not just for show.
A.P.RACING is well known on the Road Race Circuits. Many Race Teams use A.P.Racing Brakes, including the Winning Yellow CORVETTE C6R's in the ALMS (American LeMans Series).
I personalized these by having the Black Aluminum Hats Powdercoated Diamond Graphite (the body Color) by Mike at: www.ThePowderCoater.com who did a Great job on these. I also Painted the Black "A.P.Racing" name on each Rotor Diamond Graphite. These brakes are over Two years old now and will still jerk the tears out'a your eyes if you throw on the Brakes too hard!
Specs: from Brakepros.com
FRONTS: # AP3700R
AP3700R Big Brake Kit offers Lightweight 6-Piston Aluminum Alloy Calipers with Massive 14.25" two piece rotors incorporating the latest in curved vane cooling technology. 6-Piston calipers and 363mm (14.25") high performance two piece cross-drilled and slotted rotors. We chose to develop our "NEW" Big Brake Upgrade for the 350Z and G35 using this latest technology. Originally Developed to meet the stringent standards of Select OE manufactures building High performance vehicles.
This kit will also fit within the OE 18" touring and Track model wheels. Now you can posses some of the same advanced brake technology found in IRL, NASCAR, WRC, and Formula 1. For best performance, add our optional stainless steel brakeline kit.
REARS: #AP3750R
This 4-piston 2-piece rear big brake upgrade has been developed to be a perfect balance to an AP Racing front system. The kit includes world famous AP Racing 4-piston aluminum alloy calipers with high-performance, 2-piece 330mm (13") cross-drilled and slotted rotors that are 26mm thick for optimum heat capacity. The rotor core uses a racing-derived curved vane design for maximum cooling and is mounted on a steel hat that incorporates a parking brake surface. The caliper is attached to the OE knuckle with a heavy duty steel or high-strength aluminum bracket and Grade 8 or better hardware. DOT-compliant stainless steel brake lines and all necessary hardware are included, so this kit is ready to bolt on and is fully compatible with OE parking brake components.

Pros:
|
Much improved stopping power, impressive looks, calipers are light weight
|
|
Cons:
|
Rotors are heavier than stock, rear calipers would not clear my Volk GT-&'s and a 5mm spacer had to be used.

So a few months back I was seaching for a cheap BBK and asking for info to see if anyone had installed a kit from Fastbrakes.com. So Kevin (aka ALT_Red_G35) had mentioned that he was selling his kit so PM's were exchanged and the rest is history, well yesterday I finally got around to installing the kit and I must say that I am more than pleased with the results. The stopping power is notably improved and the appearance is phenominal. Kevin gave the calipers to Mike @ www.thepowdercoater.com and he freshened them up with an awesome color of Redline with gold pearl just as I had asked, the pictures just don't do his work justice.
For those of you who are interested in this sort of thing, I weighed both the AP racing and OEM rotors, caliper and pads and to my surprise the difference wasn't that big. The AP racing calipers were significantly lighter than the OEM but the rotors are heavier than the stockers. I know the heavier rotors have an adverse affect on the acceleration and handling of a vehicle but this is offset by better and more consistant stopping power on the track and street and as many of you know that you can have the strongest motor and most HP but if you can't control it, well then it is useless in many situations because speed is handlings worst enemy. Anyway here are the weights from my OEM non-Brembo brake system and then the AP racing:
OEM standard brakes
-Front 2 piston calipers with pads= 12.8lbs
-Front 11.65"x .95" rotor= 16.0lbs
-----------
28.8lbs
-Rear single piston calipers
with pads= 6.6lbs
-Rear 11.5"x .63" rotor= 12.6lbs
------------
19.2lbs
AP racing BBK
-Front 6 piston calipers with pads= 9.8lbs
-Front 14.25"x 1.25" rotor= 19.8lbs
------------
29.6lbs
-Rear 4 piston calipers with pads= 5.6lbs
-Rear 13.0"x 1.0" rotor= 19.0lbs
------------
24.6lbs
------------------------------ BIG EMPTY
