The first ones really arn't a 'beta test.' I have had this installed on my car for almost two weeks now and it works flawlessly. The only reason I used the term 'beta' was because I want to distribute ten or so of them and see how easily poeple can have them installed. I have already written an instruction sheet and basically just want to make sure people can follow it. I don't want to quickly sell 80 of these things and then be flooded with Emails about installation problems. Mine took me about two hours to install, but that was with testing, and taking pictures and making sure everything was mounted perfect.

aight here is the link to the long awaited link to the install of the window up mod. i would post it over here but it takes a long time to post all the pics and im kinda tired. i will post the final review for you guys though.
windows that go up with an oem remote (http://g35driver.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=13&Number=217930&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&part=3&vc=1)
and for all you guys out there with a 350 this wil work for you as well.
here is the link to the post on my350z.com, where a member installed it on his

this is a great product and i recommend it highly

here is the final review
and finally a review. installation was pretty easy i would say the hardest part woud have been the poping off of the silver piece covering up the two screws. it was pretty hard to pop off and took a lot of force. connecting the wires was very easy and took little time. after fixing the encounter problems everything works just as it should. the box it a 2 x 2 x 1 square and fits in there without a problem. i would def recommend this great product. my only other wish is that my keyless remote had a longer range on it. i seem to have to be pretty close to the car for it to work. anyone know how to increase the range on our remotes.
all of the said problems have now been fixed and are fixed on all of the new units that will be sent out. so no need for those problems to keep you guys from buyin this awesome mod.
to the other beta testors: you will probably have to put the diode in and move the cap as well. i would try to see if it works at first cause the guy with the 350 was able to get his installed without having to move the cap and his works fine. most likely you will have to move the cap though, since me and kevin both had too.
this thing is awesome. now i / you dont have to roll the windows up before you open the door. my problem was that i would turn the car off then roll the windows up and would have to wait till they were all the way up and then open the door. if you opened the door without them being all the way up they would stop wherever they were at because when you open the door the RAP system would be killed. now i can turn the off get out of the car and push the lock button twice and watch the windows go up as i walk away.
cant wait for your next controllers to come out and to beta test those. ill just keep my mouth shut on those for a while.
sorry for the small pictures, but i've never used photoshop before so i did the best i could by cropping, resizing, and changing the resolution to get them under a 100k.
release to the public has been delayed a little bit, since i took so long for the testors to get theirs. also kevin has to go to philly for 2 weeks so he wont be able to work on them or send them out, but they will be out soon. and i would def recommend picking one up.

just thought id give some updates.
the window mod is fixed and should be released in a few weeks. get ready for release. also in the near future the VDC Memory will also be released. the VDC memory will remember the state the vdc was in and will keep it in that state the next time you start the car. so when you push the button to turn the vdc and then turn the car off and turn it back on the vdc will be in the off position.

well, the website links doesn't seem to work, but it sounds like a great mod. i hate waiting for the windows to roll-up before i could open the door (i guess i could think ahead and roll up the windows before i park, but oh well)! i've had a window roll-up module before and it's great if you're really lazy like me, ha ha! :bonkers:

its a good deal. if you buy both you get free shipping as well. the price went up due to the extra part that needed to be added to the window mod and the numerous hours that kevin spent finding and working out bugs with his beta testors.
installs are easy and doesnt take much time at all. the window mod should take around an hour and the vdc should take round 30 to 45 mins. in my option they are straight forward and very easy, but if you dont have any experiance with this kinda stuff i could see it taking you a little longer.
kevin should have received his new boards today, but is away on a business trip til next weekend so will not be able to make new ones for a week or so. expect more to be ready for sale in a week or so. he is still takin orders from his website and will ship the new units out on a first come first serve basis. so wherever you are on the list that is when you will get yours. he did order 250 boards so he should have enough if you were at the end of the list. the wait may just be a little longer.

looks and sounds good. but are there any reliability issues yet? i'm sure the beta testers did a good job, but i just want to know if there are any problems with it yet. do you know if he still has to make more, or if some are in stock now? i think i'm beginning to like this idea a lot more............

but are there any reliability issues yet? i'm sure the beta testers did a good job, none that we know of so far all of the people that installed it correctly have not had a problem with it yet. one guy burned his up because he couldnt find the wire listed so he just decided to hook it up to a 12v constant source. when doin this he fried one of the transistors. he is shipping it back to kevin to have kevin put on a new tranistor and send it back. another guy being only a senior in high school has a had time following directions and listenin to what we say had a problem. his problem was that he couldnt find the right wires to hook up to so his wouldnt work, but wonce he got the right wires his works fine.
but i just want to know if there are any problems with it yet. there is only one that we know of for sure has a problem. his problem is that everytime he pushes the unlock button twice in a row the car lock again. so i will be making a trip to orlando to troubleshoot that one tomorrow. we think it is just a bad diode cause this was one of the problems that i first had when i got the beta model.
do you know if he still has to make more, or if some are in stock now? i think i'm beginning to like this idea a lot more............
n1cK!yes he still has to make more. kevin recieved his new boards yesterday, but he is on the last week of his 3 week work trip. so he doesnt have any instock right now. he did order 250 boards so he should have enougth for a while. like i said before he is still taking orders from his website and those units will be shipped out in the order they were recieved. so if you want you can order now, but it might be another week or 2 before you recieve it. both the vdc memory and window mod are great products. kevin also informed me that he recieved his new chips for the sunroof mod and was workin on that last night ih his hotel, so that should be out for testors in the very near future and then up for you guys. the sunroof mod will work right along with the window one. :toast:

after realizing my mistake, i quickly said to disregard that stupid post that i had before. i thought the purple wire on the harness would have been the same, and instead of following the instructions, i decided to use a shortcut. as with most shortcuts, this one didn't work. fool on me! but it works flawlessly now, as well as the vdc memory and i don't know what i ever did without it. no more hassle for us lazy people :biggthum:

N!ck,
I've following this thread on and off for a while, and since Daniel has been so good at answering your questions I have never replied. Silly me, I didn't even put 2+2 together when you emailed me the other day that you are the same Nick that is posting in the thread. It's good to hear you got both of your modules working. The window mod can be a little tricky, especially for the people who think they are smarter then me!!! :)
My personal favorite is still the guy (who will remain nameless) who couldn't find the right colored wire so he just hooked it up to the purple wire. He didn't go on to say how or why he picked the purple wire but, needless to say, it wasn't the right wire and it smoked his module (which KPtechnologies repaired for free).
If people have all the right tools, take thier time, and follow the instructions these things should work perfect.
If you need anything else please contact Daniel or myself.
Thanks,
Kevin Pierson

Hopefully this Spring I can get it all finished. I still have to order circuit boards and have custom enclosures ordered. The hardware is very intensive on this module so I had some difficulty laying out the circuit board. That, and my motivation to work on some other 'high demand' items pulled me off of the sunroof one....

We have ordered the circuit boards and all the parts for the sunroof module. Once they arrive we will begin the next step of testing - making sure everything actually works.
In the meantime, we are about to release three other modules - 1. Nav 'OK' bypass module 2. Programmable shift light 3. Auto lock/unlock module (with optional RPM switch).
After the Sunroof module is released I think I will be working on a turbo timer next...

Do we have to register for the car show? I'm not even sure my car will be done by then...

Dan has a sunroof module in his car now. Its the first beta test sunroof module. My car has been at a shop since December so I have been unable to test anything on my own (crippling our research basically). Most of the hardware seems to work (one small glitch but I think we have a work around) but the software still needs tweaked. I tweaked it a little and sent a new chip to Dan but he damaged it putting it in, and thats where we are at now.
But, the circuit boards have been made and ordered, and are being assembled now. We have roughly 80 units and most likely once they are gone, we are done with them. They are still set to retail for $99.99 and are MUCH harder to install then the window modules.

haha, as bas as this sounds, I never even thought about having a 2nd person test. I have been focused on installing the sunroof module in MY car where I can troubleshoot it and get the software to a point where I'm comfortable letting others try it out. I can tell you this now, the software will NEVER be perfect, but there are ways to fake it. There are just too many variables with controlling the sunroof and not enough feedback signals (well, technically, there arn't any feedback signals). Basically, our processor will have to 'guess' where the sunroof is a all times, and respond to commands based on where it thinks it is.
The major downside to having someone else test it is that I will have to come up with some sort of guide to at least tell what each wire is...

06-28-2005, 10:47 PM
The shift light is another product that I'm getting killed on. It works in my Mini, it works in my work truck, it doesn't work too well in the G. The only difference in the three is that we are using the VDC button as a programming button in the G. So, one day, if I ever see my car again, I can test all that and figure out where the problem lies....

Actually they can and the traction control feature is big pain like with teh VDC. I am defintely going to do both MODS. I am impressed by his ingenuity and i am cetain my LS friends would be just as well.

KPtechnologies is always looking for new markets. We currently have modules either for sale or in the testing phase for a variety of cars, including Mini Coopers, BMW 3 series, Honda Accord, Nissans, and Infinitis.
I've never explored the Lincolns because most domestics lack the computer control needed by our module. If you get a chance meet up with Dan and see if we can all work together to get something built.
