Hey everyone, I'm new to the 37 forums but not new to the G. I traded my 2005 G35 DG lease in for a 09 G37S in blue slate. I have been loving it ever since until I went and got the windows tinted and my tint guy showed me that the entire car is covered with little spots that are under the clear coat, this is only noticeable on a overcast day or when the car is in the shade. I took delivery at night and its not noticeable under lights, due to the way the metal reflects the light.
Took it to the dealer and they had me take it to their body shop, who told me that the whole car has been damaged with acid rain, including the windows, and the the entire car needs to be repainted.
I bought this car on Sep 30 09 and it has under 800 miles on it, the dealer seemed willing to help repair the problem but that was before they knew it needed to be fully re-painted, what do you think my options are? They are callign me back today and I would like to hear other experiences if anyone has had any?
Here are some pics, its hard to tell on a camera, since you need to focus up close and it tends to get blurry even on macro, but all the lighter dots you see are the discolored acid rain drop damage apparently.

Continue to work with your dealer but contact a lawyer if you aren't getting anywhere... Keep all discussion documented.
That sucks man.....especially with a brand new car

Make sure you check to see if it is calcium water spots before getting it re-painted.
I had the calcium from the dealer on my truck and even wax would not take them out. I took it back to the dealer and they knew what it was since they were on well water with high calcium.
They used some type of solution (acidic I would assume) to clean it up.
good luck!

Good point, Mark! Kinda hard to tell what it is without seeing it upclose.
May also start with a basic clay bar if you haven't tried that.

Try detailing the car as mentioned above. A real detail that is.

Get an opinion from a well respected detailer. It may be something that can be corrected without painting the entire car. If it can't be corrected, then have the dealer repaint it under warranty, get you a different car, or give you a big discount.

Find a reputable detailer around you and have them take a shot at getting it out. Check G35driver, there are some guys over in LA that do good work and are members. As far as the windows, you might have to get a "rock chip" from a falling object and let the insurance take care of it. Calcium deposits are a ***** to get out, but they still come out with compound or a heavy polish.
The paint may run you any where from $125-300 to be highspeed buffed.

Check with Mike Phillips on the autogeek forum on getting the spots out if they are calcium. He is top notch on detailing stuff. He probably won't be able to tell if it's acid rain or calcium without seeing it but he is sharp.

I live in Louisiana and this winter we have had unusually frequent rains. Like once or twice a week at least for the past couple months with some breaks here and there. In the summer time you can set your watch by the rainy season. Generally around mid-day to 3:00pm you will have rain, not everyday of course, but very often.
Because of these frequent rains I have been concerned with the contaminates that this rain may have that sit on the paint after the rain. Ecspecially this summer when after the rain it can easily be mid 90's with 75 to 80% humidity. extremely hot. How much damage could these contaminates do to the paint and is it necessary to rinse my truck after a rain to remove these contaminates or is the regular once a week wash and once every 4 to 6 week wax job enough to protect the paint from any damage or defects? I have a 2006 Chevy Silverado ext. and the paint is in excellent condition I wash it regularly (my neighbors would say obsessivley) I want to maintain the paint as is for the life of the truck. And am willing to put forth the effort to make sure this happens.
