Ok so I have just ordered my adapter from Ryan at forged to install my oil pressure gauge and I am debating on which gauges to use. I have a couple sets because i will use one for my other project and one for my G. One set is all mechanical, oil full sweep, water temp full sweep, and an a/f gauge digital. the other set is all electric and has an oil pressure, water temp, and tranny temp (auto tranny), and i would add a boost and a/f later and they are only half sweep. I know that electric is the safer method so I have been told in the past because there are no hot fluids running to the "cockpit" but i kinda like the looks of the mechanical better. What are you recommendations on this? Electic or Mechanical? Thanks

What do you mean digital with needles?

There are a few that I have seen that are completely digital and the needles are digital and not actually a piece of metal like in the mechanical ones.

I've been told to stay away from the cheaper Autometer gauges by most shops which stated that they are not acurate at times and the needle has a tendancy to stick. IDK if it is true, then the usually recommend that I buy Defi.

The only thing J didn't like about it was, where we placed it in our Z, it was hard to see while he was driving. We used it for about a year while he was daily driving with the vortech on the car.
We had modified the casing so we couldn't move it to a more visible place.

DO NOT USE any mechanical gauges. if one of those lines break or get pinched in the cabin you could be in a world of hurt. especialy oil, pumping all your oil into your cabin, popping your motor, and a nasty nasty clean up. which insurance wont pay for. why is there any question on which gauges you should use.

True.... the letter just too small.......it's not small by any mean, just when you're driving and needs to see all of those letters, it's annoying (since they are changing)......i put mine on the center console...... but i would rather see my a-pillar instead

they are more of a autozone type gauge but the top series is good and i haven't had problems out of them yet and they were on a 500+hp motor

just because it was on a 69237923508whp motor doesnt mean its a good gauge. the reliablity of it and how accurate it is IS.

not feeling like making new thread, whats the normal egt for boosted VQ? like idle wise or cruising wise?
DirtyMechanic

we usually dont go by EGTs. diesel's have more of a use for it. we normally just go by A/F. if those are good the ETGs are deff good.
