Need penicillin, tail lights are sick

Just got my car back from the body shop for some paint, I had my body guy color/clear the tail lights. He liked how they turned out so much, he didn't charge for them.

Pics are of dirty car in direct sunlight, please forgive me. In normal light they look just about body color.

Used to have the overlays, so much for that!

Those are hot. I'd suggest buffing them out with polish and sealing with some wax.

Yeah, I will most definitely do that.
Come to think of it the whole car needs a wax, but I'll wait until the paint cures :cool:

I have the 35% tint vinyl overlays and they look good, but i have to fix them every 3 months or so because they start lifting off the tail light. I think its more legit when u get them painted it would be great if i could find somebody that did that here in SoCal.

I hear ya. Paint is definitely the way to go. The vinyl overlays also seemed to get dirty/dusty easier than the painted tails.

I was always leary of camber issues... seen too many kids with -4" kits on Eclipses.

Typically from what I have heard it is a mix of 90% Clear 10% black. Then you shoot coats until you get the darkness you want. Usueally 2-3 coats is enough. Then shoot just plain clear over it. Wet sand and polish for sex appeal!

^yup was just going to say they usually use a mix of clear and black. you can also buy spray on tint like vht niteshade if you want to do it yourself.

My brother does some paint work and we were trying to figure out the same thing. Not quite sure what the mix is but we're pretty certain it's mostly clear with a little paint, several coats and some wetsanding, like you said.

However he did it, looks great. They should all have came like that from the factory. Thanks for the comments :23:

I'll have to get the corners done (a bit lighter) and see how that looks. Right now they stand out a bit IMO.
